RESOLVE was contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assess and remove a sunken barge in the Fort Pierce Inlet. RESOLVE utilized both sonar technology and specialized divers to assess the wreck. The initial side-scan sonar surveys identified the location of the main barge hull. Upon completion of the survey, RESOLVE mobilized the RMG 400 crane barge from Mobile, AL and salvage equipment from warehouses in Fort Lauderdale and Mobile. The project team was faced with heavy currents which impeded diving operations. RESOLVE proceeded to cut and remove the crane and davits since they posed a safety hazard to other vessels in the inlet. Aside from salvage operations, RESOLVE also worked closely with the USACE and the U.S. Coast Guard to facilitate smooth traffic flow in and around the inlet.
