dsc00599_400Fort Lauderdale, FL, December 8, 2010 – RESOLVE Maritime Academy,  the U.S. – based maritime emergency response training center, graduated seven students from Qatar on November 23.  The graduates, who are land-based firefighters, came to RESOLVE’s South Florida facility for a customized program of marine- oriented fire, hazardous materials and safety courses.  The  program was organized in cooperation with the National Academy for Professional Training (NAPT) in Qatar.
The students attended classes at RESOLVE Maritime Academy’s Port Everglades, Florida facilities from October 4 through November 25.  The training involved classroom time, hands- on firefighting and hazardous materials, and shipboard training aboard RESOLVE’s T/V Gray Manatee shipboard simulator during the intensive eight-week program, and included:

• 40 hr Hazwoper training
• Basic Firefighting;
• Shipboard Helicopter Fire Fighting Team
• Marine Fire Fighting for Land Based FireFighters
• Theory and Practical Training in Basic Damage Control Operations
• USCG Basic and Advanced Marine Firefighting
• 20 hr orientation to emergency salvage response course
• Elementary first aid
• USCG Personal survival
• PSSR Personal Safety & Social Responsibility
• First aid CPR/AED

The graduates, who received certificates in each of these areas, are now prepared to effectively deal with an array of maritime emergencies and mentor others in the principals and techniques learned throughout the program. RESOLVE planned the customized program with SIS-7, delivers specialized security and other training programs for government or military- sponsored  personnel worldwide.
